How Does Professional Teeth Whitening Work?
Whitening refers to a procedure that removes stains and discoloration by using concentrated peroxide. Teeth absorb peroxide via pores in the enamel called dentin tubules, which causes an overall whitening effect.
Professional Teeth Whitening Options
At Dameron Family Dentistry, we offer two professional teeth whitening options:
- In-Office Teeth Whitening
We use Zoom, a chairside tooth whitening system. During the process, which takes a couple hours and will lighten your teeth several shades, an assistant applies a special whitening material to your teeth. Depending on the material used, they may also use a curing light to activate the substance. While waiting for your teeth whitening process to finish, you can sit back and relax while watching your favorite movie or show. - Take-Home Teeth Whitening
Our professional at-home teeth whitening system consists of custom-made whitening trays. It comes with a daytime or nighttime whitening solution and typically takes 2 appointments. The trays are custom-made, so they are more effective than over-the-counter teeth whitening kits. Additionally, the trays are more comfortable, and the system is easier to use. Using the professional take-home teeth whitening option takes a bit longer than the in-office teeth whitening system. The take-home teeth whitening system will take about 10 days to 2 weeks to complete.
